Taylor-Brown Takes a First T100 Win in Spain
Several attempts at the T100 distance in 2025. Twelfth, ninth, fourth, then second. Better on some days, worse on others. On 23 May 2026 in Pamplona, Georgia Taylor-Brown answered everyone still asking when the first win at this distance would come.
The answer was that day.
The race: Derron led, Taylor-Brown finished
T100 Spain was run in Pamplona and Navarre in heat and on a demanding, rolling course. The 100 km format, a 2 km swim in the Alloz reservoir, an 80 km ride into Pamplona and an 18 km run through the streets of the old town, does not reward tired legs.
Julie Derron, silver medallist at the Paris Olympics, set the pace and led for a long stretch. The Swiss is one of the fastest runners in the field, but Taylor-Brown turned the script around: she closed the gap through the run, passed Derron on the hardest climb and never gave the lead back.

Taylor-Brown’s margin over Derron was 1:20, enough to run the finish in cleanly.
Why this win matters
For anyone following GTB’s career this is more than another result. Taylor-Brown was defined for a long time by a single line: silver medallist at the Tokyo Olympics. An Olympic medal, WTCS wins, excellent form over the short distances, and still the T100 victory would not come.
It took several races at the distance in 2025 to collect the first win, which says plenty about how hard the T100 series is to win. There is no shortage of contenders.
The win was worth 50,000 USD. The T100 series takes prize money seriously.
Taylor Spivey: a first T100 podium
Taylor Spivey’s third place is her own story. It is her first T100 podium, despite years of racing at the front of shorter events. She came through the field with one of the quickest runs of the day.
What comes next in the T100 series
The 2026 T100 season runs on. The women raced in Pamplona on 23 May and the next stop on their calendar is Vancouver on 15 August. After Spain, Imogen Simmonds leads the women’s overall standings on 42 points, having finished fourth in Pamplona, while Taylor-Brown moved up sharply on the back of the win.
What age groupers can take from it
- The run climbs decide it. T100 courses often carry significant elevation. An athlete who never trains hills arrives underprepared. Taylor-Brown settled this race on the run, on the hardest climb, and not by accident.
- Heat is a separate discipline. Pamplona in May can get hot, and the athletes at the front work on heat acclimatisation. Going into a summer race without any heat preparation is worth thinking twice about.
- Patience pays. Several starts before a first win. Breaking through at a new distance takes time, and one poor result is not a verdict.
