Wörthersee Marathon

Lake Wörthersee in Austria hosts one of Europe’s most scenic and energetic running events: the Wörthersee Marathon. Starting from the Klagenfurt lido, participants can take on the full marathon distance. The marathon completes a unique loop around the turquoise waters of Lake Wörthersee, offering a mix of hilly terrain along the southern shore and flatter segments for a dynamic experience. For those seeking a shorter challenge, the half marathon traces the picturesque Süduferstrasse to Velden, ending at the Schlosshotel Velden. Walkers are also welcome to circumnavigate the lake at their own pace. Highlights include cheering zones, on-course catering, medical care, and lively post-race festivities at the Runner’s Beach Club. All finishers receive a commemorative medal. The event is officially part of the World Athletics calendar.
