Wendover Woods 50

Wendover Woods is an area of woodland on the north edge of the Chiltern Hills in England. Named after the nearby town of Wendover, the woods are owned by the Forestry Commission. Covering 325 ha (800 acres), the woods are a mixture of coniferous and broadleaved trees, and is host to the annual Wendover Woods 50. There are views of the countryside in the Aylesbury Vale to the north, and a stone monument marking the highest point of the Chilterns which lies within the woods on Haddington Hill.The Wendover Woods 50 is a 50 mile foot race consisting of 5×5 mile loops on forest trails, entirely within Wendover Woods. The course mixes some of the most enjoyable trail running to be found anywhere, with wide, soft trails including smooth descents and runnable climbs. These sections are contrasted with some much steeper ascents and descents scattered throughout the loop.
