The Marató Vall de Cardós follows a demanding route through some of the most emblematic and spectacular areas of the valley. Starting at the Ribera de Cardós campsite, the course first climbs gently towards Bonestarre, Anàs and Estaón before a steep four-kilometre ascent of more than 1,000 metres to Tuc de Lo Calvo (2,291 m). Runners then traverse the Campirme mountain range, enjoying wide views before reaching Cim del Campirme at 2,632 metres. The route continues past Mascarida Lake and descends to the Pleta de Prat Refuge at Tavascan station, where a full refreshment point is located. The final section includes the Corbiu viewpoint, faster trails, the climb to Trencacalders peak (2,266 m) and the Campirme lakes. After completing the positive elevation gain, participants descend past Soliguera and Finestres lakes, cross Coll de Jou and the ridge to Puitavaca, then return via Lladrós, Benante and Ainet to the Ribera campsite.
