The Knysna Extreme, Africa's toughest triathlon, offers a formidable Point-To-Point, self-supported race through South Africa’s picturesque Garden Route. The event kicks off with a 5 km swim in the Knysna Estuary, transitions into a 174 km cycle encompassing coastal, mountain, and semi-desert vistas, and culminates in a grueling 50 km run through plantations and the Knysna forest. This demanding yet scenic route takes triathletes back to the sport's purest form, rigorously testing fitness, mental resilience, and determination. Each participant must have a dedicated supporter to provide essential mechanical, nutritional, and mental assistance throughout the race. With an altitude gain of nearly 3,800 meters over a total distance of 229 kilometers, the Knysna Extreme presents an exhilarating personal challenge for any athlete.
