The Cumes do Marão Challenge (CUMES) returns with a bang on 26 September 2026, to challenge trail running enthusiasts in one of the most impressive and stunning mountain ranges in Portugal: the Serra do Marão. This event, which has already established itself as one of the most anticipated on the national calendar, promises a unique experience, full of challenges and breathtaking landscapes. CUMES 2026 stands out for its diversity of distances, allowing athletes with different levels of preparation to participate. This year, the main event is once again the feared 50K, a competition that tests the endurance of participants to the limit. In addition to this, athletes can choose between the 30K or 20K distances. The epicentre of the event remains Ansiães, where all departures and arrivals take place, and its routes run through the entire Heart of Marão, namely Ansiães, Teixeira/Mafómedes, Campeã/Montes/Cotorinho, Fontes/Soutelo, and Candemil, known for their natural, cultural and historical riches, as well as for the hospitality they offer to all who visit these lands, and which increasingly attract our participants. All competitive distances score points for ITRA, UTMB Index and ATRP.
