About the race
Challenge Sir Bani Yas takes place on Sir Bani Yas Island, a wildlife reserve offshore from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The Challenge Family race page lists 30 January 2027 as the race date, and the official site gives the event dates as 29-31 January 2027. The race is described as the first long-distance triathlon in the Middle East.
The Long Distance is a 3.8 km swim, 172 km bike and 42.2 km run. The Middle Distance is 1.9 km, 82 km and 19.5 km, and includes a pro race. The Olympic Distance is 1.5 km, 36 km and 9.7 km. Community races offer 200/400/800/1600 m swims, 30/60/90 km bike rides and 2.5/5/10 km fun runs. Tri Together options are available for the Long, Middle and Standard distances.
The swim is a loop in the Arabian Gulf. The bike course uses the island ring road with no traffic, and the run is a flat coastal multi-loop course through the race village.
