About the race
The Ascona-Locarno Marathon represents a unique occasion for visiting the region of Lake Maggiore in its stunning scenery as it takes on its vivid autumn colours. Suggestive places such as the Piazza Grande in Locarno – both starting and finish point of the marathon – and the famous lakefront promenade of Ascona will be part of the race. Participants may choose among the contests of Marathon (42.195 km), Half Marathon (21.0975 km) and 10km distance, according to their own physical conditions and actual abilities. The Ascona-Locarno Marathon is an enjoyable, scenic race. It is organised by five sports clubs – the VIRTUS Locarno, the Company Podistica Locarno, The Runners ClubBellinzona, the USA and the Sports Association Ascona Ticino. There is also a half marathon and a 10K race.
