About the race
The Abingdon Marathon, with over 125 years of combined experience on the race committee, is dedicated to providing a professional yet friendly event that prioritizes the needs of the athletes. Attracting runners from clubs nationwide, it’s perfect for both seasoned marathoners seeking personal bests and first-time marathoners looking for a user-friendly experience. First held in 1982, the 2025 edition will mark its 41st year. The flat, fast course is almost entirely on roads, making it ideal for achieving a personal best. While the race has grown, it remains a smaller marathon focused on delivering an excellent experience. Additionally, it is one of just eight UK races qualifying for the Abbott World Marathon Majors Marathon Tours & Travel Age Group World Rankings.
